Better

I'm feeling better. That really knocked me on my rear! Wow. I missed work yesterday but am off to work today. I don't want to miss my 9th today b/c it should be fun today, and I'm starting book banning with Thomas's 11th as well. Hopefully I will have enough energy for dance and Stammtisch. Tuesdays are always quite full!

Must be off, got a train to catch. I've just about reached that half-way mark! Just a few more days!

Miss you all. : *)

Sick and Alone

So I thought I felt kinda nauseated last night, but didn't think too much of it. Then when I got up I realized I was probably going to throw up. So I went into the bathroom and oh yes, hm. Unfortunate. I think I'll be staying in today and trying to recover. It's been awhile since I've had the flu. I can't remember what you're supposed to eat/drink. Darn. And Chuck is out of town for the weekend and Kate has to work so I'm alone. Sick and alone and far from home. What a lovely combination. Ok, so that was a bit sarcastic. I'll be fine, but it's nice to complain.

Hope everyone at home is well.

A White World

No, this is not some argument for the hegemony of the center, preying on the periphery and sucking out the life and culture and instating their own until the world looks like some sad replica of the "West".......oh, sorry. Too much anthropology of globalization lately!! : )

Happy snow!!!! Last night it started to snow and I got to make fun tracks in it and today it snowed more and while there are probably only two or so inches on the ground, I'm loving it! I just want it to keep on snowing. It's finally sticking this time. : )

Other than that not much new. Tonight we're going for Thai b/c it's Ren's last night in K-Town, sadly. And this weekend looks like lots of studying and a Spielabend. Should be good and quiet.

Russian Invasion

That's right, we've been invaded! Or at least the Russian weather has made its way to our green-loving Deutschland. Luckily the sun prevailed today, and by nine o'clock it was finally almost up in the sky! A whopping -18 C today folks! For those of you with a Fahrenheit based mind, that's 0 F. Despite my four layers, two pairs of socks (one being ski woolies) and scarf, hat and coat, my fingers managed to go numb and come back to life with a fiery evil! Of course, I did ride my bike across town to dog sit. I'm being a bum tonight and not facing the cold. I refuse to hike up the hill in the dark and cold for ballroom, especially when I have another one tomorrow.

If anyone has seen Memoirs of a Geisha, I would recommend the book. It's much better. Though I enjoyed the movie.

How are energy prices over there? Being affected by the Iran issue yet?

So Angie was in the U.S. recently and I heard Bush took her out to eat. Awww, it's nice to see our countries playing nice!

Hope all are well!

January's Turkey Day

Finally I've had a proper (almost) Thanksgiving! Heide had a Thanksgiving lunch at her place today, with a real turkey and four Americans. We had Knoedel instead of mashed potatoes (they're like balls of potato stuff with spices that are almost boiled), real cranberry sauce, gravy, stuffing, corn, and yummy brownies made by Chuck and I! We brought back ingredients from the U.S. to make them quite tasty.

There was good conversation, the Amis could speak a bit of German. Sadly the man has lived here 30 years and teaches German at the American high school and has a BA in German, but his German was, well, um, at least he tried. It snowed just a tiny bit. Very festive.

Tomorrow I'm doing a class on the Northeast and am taking in pics from Megan's and mine's trip last March. That should be fun. The kids enjoy that sort of thing. And I'm dog-sitting after school!!!

Uh-oh, am expected elsewhere, must be off! Tschuess!

Back in DE

Hi all! I'm back in Germany. Made it safe and sound. The last few days have been very hazy and jet-laggy. Not fun. Last night I finally slept soundly the entire night! All right! I feel more like a person this morning, thank goodness.

Nothing too exciting going on here. Cold, gray weather. Back to school. I do, however, have a plane ticket home for July 4th!!! So a little less than 6 months.

The holidays were good. I loved being home and seeing everyone, and even Megan flew down to say hi. While I miss everyone, it's good to be back.

Hope you're all well and enjoying being back at work.
